MIKE JOHNSTON SIGNATURE: the Meinl Groove Bell was designed with Meinl Cymbals artist and online educator, Mike Johnston; Mike's idea was to make a modern, drum set aligned bell that doesn't dominate your sound and is easy to control
WHY IT MATTERS: your flow will improve since the bell adds to your grooves instead of overpowering; it cuts without piercing when you need it to and sits back with lower volume
ONE BIG THING: comes with two magnetic mutes that let you instantly dampen sustain and drop pitch without making drastic changes to the bell (based on Benny Greb's Magnetic Sustain Control); magnets are strong, so they stay in place while playing
DRIVING THE SOUND: made with a special steel alloy and hexagon shaped medium-sized mouth; Mike and Meinl R&D arrived at its shape, proportions, and alloy after years of testing
ZOOM IN: a brushed vintage steel finish gives the bell an old school, worn-in appearance with a good-looking patina; the bell features Mike’s signature on the side
